Who we are:   

Abortion Pill Rescue Ireland and UK is a joint initiative of The Life Institute in Ireland and The Good Counsel Network in The UK established for the purposes of providing women who regret taking the first dose of the abortion pill regime with information and access to abortion pill rescue medication. We aim to provide women with evidence based medical facts about the efficacy and mode of action of abortion pill rescue to enable an informed decision on the option to reverse the effects of the abortion pill before the abortion process is complete. We aim to provide women with information necessary to access abortion pill rescue providers in Ireland and The UK. We also provide women who are suffering following abortion with information to access compassionate support. Abortion Pill Rescue is operated by The Life Institute in Ireland and The Good Counsel Network in The UK.

What data do we collect, how do we collect this data and why?

Our website: 

Abortion Pill Rescue Ireland and UK does not collect or store any personal data through our website. When you visit our website, we collect information about our overall number of visits to our site, but not specific information relating to who has visited our site. We do not use cookies, should we in the future start to use cookies, your consent will be sought.

The Pregnancy advisor: 

If you contact a pregnancy advisor through our contact form, the following personal identification information will be collected in order to put you in touch with an APR provider in your region: name, email address, address, phone number, date of birth.

The advisor will also ask details of your pregnancy status: gestation, parity, the time of taking the first abortion pill in order to determine if APR can help you. The advisor will forward your details to a doctor in your region who will consult with you to discuss and prescribe APR as appropriate. The APR pregnancy advisor will not retain your information in any format, your information will be deleted as soon as it is forwarded to the medical practitioner.

The doctor who provides APR: 

The doctor who consults with you to discuss and prescribe APR is responsible for collecting, processing and retaining your data in a confidential medical record as outlined in his or her own practice policy.

The prescribing doctor will safeguard your personal data to ensure it remains confidential and will only handle your personal data in accordance with the terms of applicable data protection law and in accordance with the time honoured principals of medical confidentiality.

The doctor will retain your medical records on an ongoing basis, for as long as he / she has a relationship with you, and in order to: (a) comply with legal records retention obligations; (b) inform a diagnosis of a latent condition, ensure your health and safety and protect your vital interests; (c) defend or bring legal claims; and/or (d) address complaints regarding medical treatment.

The doctor will delete your personal data once it is no longer required for these purposes. You may withdraw your consent at any time in which case the doctor will delete your data unless otherwise permitted to keep your data for statutory or compliance purposes.

Storing your data?

Abortion Pill Rescue Ireland and UK does not store your data.
